K-Beauty: Korean Skincare

Hi lovelies, I hope all of you are having a wonderful week, where I live it’s a Sunday(2/24/2018), but however in Seoul, South Korea it’s already tomorrow(2/25/2018).

So I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this ‘fun fact’ about myself on my blog before, but I’m a HUGE, like GINORMOUS fan of Japanese and Korean culture… especially when it comes to skincare, makeup and haircare. If you’ve ever watch a K-Drama or seen a K-Pop group*ahem ahem… BTS* or even just a non-celebrity their skin is just ab-so-lutely gorgeous. However, today I’m talking about the skincare routine…

So there are different K-Skincare Routine steps, but of course you can always tailor the routine to fit what your skin needs. As I’ve studied and read and watched countless reviews on K-Skincare Routines. The first routine is a nice way to ease in the water.

The 5 Step Routine:

1.) Cleanse-oil cleanser it removes the bulk and stubborn makeup & then use a cream, foam or gel cleanser to finish-

2.) Toner-*not alcohol based* Korean toners are typically more watery. They do offer the same PH balancing benefit along with additional benefits like moisture or even help your skin to absorb your serum better.

3.) Serum

5.)Eye Cream/Gel/Serum-the area around the eyes are the most delicate and it’s the first place to show signs of aging so never neglect those beautiful babies, also be gentle.

*while doing this or any other skincare routine always remember to be gentle, try not to tug or stretch the skin, we don’t want premature aging*

Now that was just the 5 Step K-Skincare Routine, there is also a 10 Step routine as well. There are also ‘add-ins’ like masks and exfoliators which you shouldn’t neglect. As always you can tailor the Korean Skincare routine, any routine really to fit your personal skincare needs. Now that I went off on this tangent… the point of this post*lol* I decided I was finally going to start following a K-Skincare routine, I chose to start with the 5 Steps first, I also wanted to use all Korean products, so I researched and found what I thought would be a good fit for me, now I will say my oil cleanser and my eye cream aren’t Korean, but I love the 2 so I kept them in the routine. My specific routine consists of…

  • Day:Cleanse(cream/foam)~Toner(BHA)~Essence(whitening)~Moisturizer(oil-free & mattifying)~Eye Cream. *simple*
  • Night:Cleanse(oil then cream/foam)~Toner~Essence~Ampoule(reparitive)~Moisturizer~Eye Cream.
  • 2x week I exfoliate my face with an exfoliant that’s both a manual and chemical all in one and 2x-3x week I use a mask depending on my skins need for that week. I mainly stick with masks that are good for oily skin like clay masks or mattifying sheet masks it just depends. Also I know in my nighttime routine I put down that I use an ampoule, if you don’t know that’s just basically a “supercharged” or concentrated serum, with a fancy name*lol* I also have pimple patches for when a bump does come up *FYI I L-O-V-E them!!!* Don’t forget your SPF, most my foundations come equipped with it, but with summer coming up I will be adding a good, non-greasy SPF. Especially since I’m fair skinned.

I am following the skincare routine for 30 days to see how my skin reacts and to see if it helps it because I am using items for oily/acne prone skin, I’m also using some to help with marks like hyper-pigmentation and acne scars. I started the routine on 2/14/2018 and on Wednesday 2/28 it will be day 14 and I can see a difference already. I did take pictures of what my skin looked like the day I started with no makeup on😱 I’ll leave a list of the products that I’m using down below so if anyone wants they can check it out*I got the majority on amazon, but you can also find Cosrx on Ulta’s website along with other K-Beauty items and also Sephora*, also I’ll leave a link to my favorite K-Beauty YouTuber.
